Re: Will we miss him too much
We're very near you, Herne bay!
We're planning to go to an area called Llacuna, near Villalonga, which is fairly close to Oliva and Gandia. Its a lovely area, great for kids, lots of lovely beaches , countryside and sizable towns . |
Re: Will we miss him too much
oooooh spooky! I'm in Kent too and we've just made the decision to look at moving with our two children (4&5) to Spain, realistically in about 2-3 years time. My husband and I are both self employed with our own business and so my husband will be back and forth keeping things going in the UK while I run the office by internet/email from Spain (that's the plan anyway . . .) and we hope to be able to then expand our work into Spain. It's all very daunting. It's something my husband has wanted to do for a while but I've been too chicken! I agree though that life's too short to not try. By the looks of it this is more common than I thought and so maybe you're going to make quite a few friends who are in the same situation? With being self employed you always tend to work long hours anyway, and don't get to see much of each other. Over here in the UK it's not that easy for us girls to get out of the house when you're home alone with the kids. I was wondering if maybe it might be easier in Spain as you have the better weather for a start to get out and even in the evenings to nip out and meet friends, children are a lot more welcome in public places than here? And having kids in school be it spanish or international, you're always bound to make friends with other mums? I've never had so many good friends since my children started school!

Re: Will we miss him too much
Where are you snats? what is it with kent then?? I'm feeling more confident about the move now. sounds lovely Silverchick where you are moving to. We have chosen Javea because our friends are here and have been out so many times, The apartment that I'm renting has English telly, sad I know but I couldn't live without it and as my husband will be coming over I will have my treats of magazines etc. My kids are the ones who have burst into tears when I have had doubts and said we are not going!!

Re: Will we miss him too much
My little boy(8) keeps asking 'WHEN are we moving to Spain??', He can't wait, he's a real water baby so is very much looking forwad to long days on the beach, and having a pool!
Al least there will be Lynnxa near you, I met up with her and her lovely family on our last trip, they are vey happy in Spain, a real success story. Going to Spanish school doesn't seem to worry him either, he's looking forward to learning an instrument, as they all have to do, unfortunately he seems set o the violin!! I do think the life they will have there will be much more free and easy n some ways, Spanish kidsdon't seem to be like kids here, sitting four-eyed in front of the x-box/t.v. Although I too will need my fix of English T.V,after too many years of Coronation Street addiction , and my other half knows he will be like a personal shopper, bringing me my magazines etc.!! |
Re: Will we miss him too much
Spain is very child friendly - so much more than the UK. You can take children into restaurants late into the evening (beyond midnight in our area) and no-one bats an eylid. There is the afternoon siesta so that is the secret of staying up late ;) It is more relaxed here and honestly you won't regret the move. Your children will grow up bi-lingual, friends of our moved over in October and in january they were fluent!!! Amazing!!!! Start learning the language though as you will feel more isolated if you can't converse.
Good Luck  |

All of you from kent should arrange a get together before you all leave - and maybe another one for when you arrive in Spain :D

Re: Will we miss him too much
Hi Mum of 5 and all!
I'm in a village on the edge of Sevenoaks. While it's nice, you either have loads of money or no money and for those stuck in between it's hard. Town is dying and it's become just pubs, estate agents, roadworks and restaurants with quite a bit of trouble if you're out at closing time. Our local school is awful so we have our children in a private school at the mo and were hoping to get them good 11+ results cos forget school fees for secondary ed! Our house is a bit too small but just to get an extra bedroom you're looking at at least another £150 - £200K . . . so it's work, work, work and sadly no play. So Spain is sounding more appealing by the minute. And the shopping is definitely better if my summer hols were anything to go by! How long has it taken you to get to your moving date from deciding to do it? Nathalie xx |
