Hi all
Can a smart TV be run off a 5G data sim & router?
We have an apartment in Isla Canela but only visit for short periods of time, so don’t really want to sign up to a 12 month broadband contract.
Any insights into experiences of dealing with this issue would be greatly appreciated
TIA Christine

Data prices have fallen a lot over the last few years and even unlimited plans are cheap (though I'm not sure how picky they are about heavy users).
Technically you might even be able to create a hotspot from your phone if you don't want to invest in any additional hardware...

And assuming your monthly dataplan grants you enough data for your viewing.
Roughly :
Standard definition (SD) content generally uses 1-2 GB per hour, high definition (HD) uses 2-4 GB, and Ultra HD (4K) can use 6-10 GB per hour.

That’s useful to know, most have a fair usage cap so could be caught out. May just have to go for a broadband contract for certainty maybe get DAZN for hubbies sport too
Thanks everyone

You will use 5 G pretty quickly watching TV . Plus if the SIM is from UK they limit how much data you can use abroad. I had lobster card last year with lots of data so though I would need WiFi while in UK for the summer but as soon as I got there it said I could only use 2G outside of EU!!!.
I’m just going to go down a contract route to save any nasty data bills or sanctions and to get the best speeds through our fibre connections on the development ðŸ‘ðŸ»

I was aware but most seemed based around full usage in summer months, we visit our home throughout the year rather than in one block so didn’t quite fit. Thanks though ðŸ‘ðŸ»

Might be worth getting one of the cheaper fibre plans. I think Digi is 10 Euro/mth for a 300mbps connection which is more than you need for all your streaming needs, and it would come in handy in case you want to install an internet camera for when you're away.
