I use HIFX all the time but we did use them when we first bought four years ago and have stuck with them, We think they are great.

thanks, it was 1.52 a little while back but its dropped now, i'm getting quotes from between 1.40 to 1.46, thats a fair amount of money we've lost by not changing it when it was high, i feel a bit peed off about it now lol

Depends on how much you want moved....the larger the amount the better the rate. For just a few thousand you would probably do better if you can get a Nationwide credit or debit card and take out the max from an ATM over several days. A much better rate than using the Nationwide travel money service, or even HIFX, who we used for the larger amounts when we bought our house. Nationwide do not build a commission into the rate they charge for using their cards abroad, unlike every other bank.

Hi
We used ukforex and once registered you can look at the rate on screen. It was a bit mad keeping watching rates drop and increase. I lost my bottle and bought and the following day due to increase in interest rates in Feb I could have made another 1000 euros!! Oh well I could have also lost it
Read my comment on bank charges as my bank have charged me 554 euros for accepting the transfer and writing it back out a week later in a cheque!! I hope someone has some advice on how I complain about this. Maybe check this out with whoever your bank is and what they will take.

This subject has been covered many times before and if you do a search all will be revealed.
Most of the big currency brokers e.g Currencies Direct, Moneycorp, HIFX etc guarantee no charges by them and no receiving charges by most spanish banks on transfers of £5000 or more. You will almost always find that they will give a much higher rate than banks who normally only offer the tourist rate and not a commercial rate. Hope this helps.

The banks do an immediate electric transfer for 20 quid. I think they press send on the keyboard ;-)

hifx told me the money is sent immediatley, and they make their money from giving a slightly lower rate than what they buy it at.
