Default Where to go for holiday on coast near Murcia

Cataract op has delayed any holiday this year. The two months in Denia last year are but a memory!!

Need to get away for a week to somewhere on the flat and not have to drive. It could be Alicante airport. Any suggestions welcome - prefer smallish place but willing to listen to those in the know. It will only be for a week or two at the most this time.

You could go anywhere North of Alicante that is on the tram route. From San Juan beach up to El Campello is an easy distance from the airport. Airport bus to the tram station in Alicante and then you can get to any of these very easily. Or a taxi from the airport would be around 30 - 40 euros as far as Campello

If you prefer to go a bit futher then up to Albir or Denia can also be done on the tram or by bus from the bus station but that would take a few hours.

The tram will get you around and about and all of those places are fairly flat and would have anything you need within a small area.

You can also use the tram to get around for day trips if that is something you like to do on holiday.

What time of year are you planning on?

You could fly into San Javier, Murcia airport and stay at Los Alcazares. It's ten minutes from the airport and as flat as a pancake. The beach is gorgeous, miles of sand and the sea is the Mar Menor, warm with no waves.

Many thanks,

Not sure when we can go as all will depend on the cataract operation recovery time.(Op on 30th June hopefully)

I have to confess we didn't want to travel too far from the airports of Murcia or Alicante. It will only be for a week or two.

Many thanks,

Los Alcazares look quite built up with the apartment blocks. Are there areas of the town with less apartment blocks.

We visit Denia quite a lot and although there are many high rise apartment blocks, only a little out of town on a good(ish) bus route there are many villas or small apartment buildings.

Cannot really do too much travelling about this time round but obviously want somewhere nearby with lots of places to eat and interesting places to mooch.

Then El Campello might be what you are looking for. Not too built up, and just a lovely medium-sized Spanish seaside town. Enough shops, restaurants etc. to keep you fed and watered within a 5 minute walk of wherever you stay and only 20 mins by taxi or 1 hour by public transport from Alicante airport. With the bonus of using the tram if you want to mooch as Alicante is half an hour South and Villa Joyosa 50 mins North and both offer a good short outing.

Los Alcazares is a town, so there's plenty of property. I wouldn't say there's lots of apartment blocks, there are some like anywhere.
