My son #1 is getting married next summer and I thought for a bit of fun I'd start the search for a showstopping hat (not that I want to upstage the bride of course
) with dd who's over for August. Nada! Not a whiff of a hat apart from floppy straw things or fascinators in 17.8 million varieties ready for fiesta. Don't hat shops exist? Malaga's my preference, but anywhere within an hour or two would be good......

Don't you have any of those little independent boutiques that sell wedding clothes? They always have hats to match. There are dozens of them where I live and given the fact that there seems to be umpteen weddings every weekend, each with 500+ guests they must do a roaring trade!!
Or El Corte Inglés of course but I don't like them much.

El Corte Ingles, certainly the one out the other side of the motorway near the feria ground, did not - I was amazed. Floppy straw things and endless fascinators, yes.... Plaza Mayor (well the new bit, anyway) nada. Began to lose the will to live hence the thread! Googling turned up one in Malaga centro, which will be my next attempt but it's worth hearing from anyone who knows of one!

yes, you surprise me about Corte Inglés. I would have been sure they'd do something. I assume all branches are more or less the same, so not worth trying the one in Mijas/Fuengirola?????? cos that always seems to have a lot of "posh" stuff!!! Theres a Dunnes near there too and the Miramar Centre?? Maybe a bit of drive from you tho

I wouldn't bother with El Ingenio at Velez-Malaga, I've never seen hats for sale there apart from the sunhat variety.
The nicest I've seen locally are at shops called Dia y Noche, they have one in Nerja in the Plaza Cavana and one in Frigiliana on the main street through the village (I think the Nerja one is a bit larger). They sell mostly (very nice and reasonably priced) costume jewellery but also hats and bags.

364 I'd agree - I'm a walking charity outfit! Not for being suegra though

Don't think so. Wedding clothes shop? What that?

Wouldn't take the risk of not receiving it...please let's not wander off topic, but stuff just doesn't arrive where you expect it to in these parts. ....besides which I've got a big head (
) so wouldn't take the risk of something not fitting either
Not yet. I will, I will!!!
