It depends on what you want?

But Andalusia is very big stretching from the Portuguese border East to Murcia and North, inland beyond Cordoba.

Beaches or mountains, open countryside or cities?

The area to the East of Gibraltar is where I consider most English speakers live.

However there are some great beaches to the West of Gibraltar.

Finding work may prove very difficult with apprx 25% unemployment in general and 50% in the under 25's.

The following site was mentioned recently for renting :- idealista - Homes for rent and sale. Free listings

Ireland has 84K sq kilometers and Andalucia 87 K.
I wonder if the OP could answer her own question objectively if asked about where to live in Ireland?

discoman......
I was asking the question from the outside looking in perspective!
i.e to get feed back from those living in Andalucia...
Expat opinions are all i am looking for....
As for living in Ireland...i would be able,(if asked) to give my opinions
on my experiences here...which are all good.

I'm not an expert on Andalucia and I've never been to Ireland.

I have visited Seville, Ronda, Marbella and other parts on the coast between Gibraltar and Nerja.

Without being dismissive, one could say it's all much of a muchness, I would imagine that spending an extended period in that region of Spain the differences might be less than for Ireland.

If I were to be looking at spending 6 months living in either place, I might be safer sticking a pin on the map in Andalucia than Ireland. For cities and towns only of course.

Thank you for the reply Bristol...
(I have been to Bristol a few years ago,and loved it btw)
I know exactly what you mean when you talk about
the similarities in the various parts of Spain,
I guess i just need to rent somewhere, maybe Nerja,
and use it as a base to check out places nearby.
...Have a nice weekend Bristol.

We live in Pizarra near Malaga. It is the country with a lovely friendly village with many villages around. A lot of Brits live in the area. We are not far from the coast about 20 min drive also not far from Malaga which is good for the airport. We have a train station which runs to the coast and to the airport. Train fares are cheap compared to UK.
