I apologies in advance for the tone of this post but here goes.... my husband and I have researched the idea of moving to Spain on a full time basis. It won't happen for another two years when we will be 60.
Life is good right now, we are both fit and well. We will be able to afford the private health care costs etc. However, as we get older and a little frail I do worry about not having any type of support system in place. We both want a forever area but worry that when we get frail or failing that we will be on our own. We have no children therefore would need to put our affairs in order. Is there systems in place? We so badly want this to happen but I do fear what may happen 10-15 years down the road.

On the Costa Blanca, health care is far better in Spain. Post retirement age you will be able to apply for S1 and be entitled to health care same as a Spaniard, provided May does not screw up the Brexit negotiations. Should you need to go into care there are some excellent facilities at prices lower than in UK.

Thank you. We have been looking around the Costa del Sol and can't find much, at least not on line. I will do some research into the Costa Blanca area.

There are a fair number around. This is one I know of having visited friends there and is probably typical of what is available.

We are both 60 and lived here for four years. Our outlook and general health are both totally different now, all for the better. You are obviously being practical and responsible in asking and I hope your minds have been put at ease.
Now get out here and put some adventure back into your lives, what will be will be, but you still have lots of time ahead to enjoy life here, and start a new chapter and life.
Go for it! Highly recommended for a better, healthier and fuller life than old blighty has to offer !!!!

Hi,
There a retirement village about 4 miles outside Benidorm. I went to have a look a couple of years ago and the village is kept in pristine order. The Royal British legion also hold their regular meetings there.

Thank you for the brochure. I must say I am no longer worried and know that there will be options available. We chatted last night and just might take the advice given by lurchio. Sun, sea and different lifestyle here we come in 2020.

Last night was the happiest we have been in ages. We thought our dream was dying and now realize it will only die if we let it.
