Re: Water restrictions starting.
Went for a walk today up at the Guadalest Reservoir and its very, very low. This time last year it was almost up to the spillway and after the rains in March they were allowing water out (seemingly, if the level gets too high it can damage the wall)..
Picture that I took and one I pulled from the web showing it the other year..
Taken today 14/2/24
From the other year, taken from a webpage about the area.. NOt my image..

There was a company in the news a couple days ago, they refilled 70! Pools on an urbanisation over night. They used 3.2 million litres of tap water doing it. I don't remember what the outcome was, but I hope it's a big fine, or they were forced to put all the water in the river or something ! Shocking attitude from these people

We have a warning on our water bill that states that anything more than a 20% deviation higher in the water use over the two month billing period will result in a visit and possible charges.
My bill this month (for the two months) states we have used 32% less water than this time last year.

Re: Water restrictions starting.
I live on an urbanisation in Nerja and so far no water restrictions have been imposed, although I suspect it will not be long before they are. Although all properties have meters, the water from the supplier fills communal tanks and this is then pumped into the distribution network. The community office is billed but this seems to be based on metered supply to the two tanks not individual consumption. Due to the variety of property usage the only way to manage individual consumption would be to have a meter reader visit each property on a monthly or bi-monthly basis. As a matter of interest I measured our consumption over the course of a week without making extra effort to reduce consumption and found it was 176 litres a day per person so the rumoured 160 litres a day per person is achievable.

I hope that was a sarcastic comment.
Because it wont make a jot of difference. Tourists will be unaffected even though the hotels are the biggest wasters
I thought the biggest wasters of water were golf courses.
