Not always.
The wife dad waited for 5 years to get the electric connected and some friends who live further up the same mountain road have a water deposit and run off a generator as the utility companies want lots of Euros to run supplies.
Both of these properties are legal as he applied for the permits to extend the house a couple of years ago and there were no issues.

Regardless of cost, you would need to know how much water can be stored, as most companies will charge per delivery. With thousands of properties for sale in Spain, why even bother buying a property that's not connected to mains?

We had a business up in the foothills of Puig Campana on the Benidorm-Finestrat Road.It was a legal registered business but ,as it was in a rural situation, there was neither mains water nor electricity. We had solar power installed by a German company & had a large water deposito which served the finca & the business. As it was a commercial enterprise we had a cheap rate for water & it was a very efficient service. This was way back in the mid 1980's .Quite incorrect to state it may be an illegal property but I cannot comment on the property described in Almeria. Our business was sold after nearly 20 years trading & is still operating today, absolutely legally. If the property is a private house I imagine,as with filling swimming pools, there will be a much more expensive rate charged for water consumption.

I said "I wonder if" but you say that that is incorrect which means that its the opposite then & legal ?

Obviously I did not express myself clearly enough.I was only pointing out that a property without mains water & electricity does not mean it may be an illegal build. And,no I have no knowledge of any property in Almeria.Just would not like for Cain to be put off this property until he has researched further details.

Just because a rural property is not connected to water or electricity does not necessarily suggest it is illegal. The cost of connection can be more than the owner can afford. However, the lack of a habitation licence does indeed stop you getting a supply even if it is available which is possibly an indication that it is not legal.
