Hi I would like to warn everbody to be carefull of your wallets and purses in Chiclana town center. Today my wallet was stolen it contained money residence card and social security health card.


Anybody know the procedure for obtaining replacement cards?

Hi cant help with the replacements,just like to say Im so sorry this has happened to you,the thieving ratbags they want their fingers chopping off :mad: and now you are left to sort it out, karma sent :wub:

sorry to hear that mitzy...the silly season has begun again

dh had his wallet stolen in mas y mas a couple of years ago, apary from money the only important doc. in it was his UK driving licence


did you do a denuncia at the police station?- they should be able to tell you how to get replacements

it's worth the denuncia even if you have no idea who took it - a friend of mine has had her handbag stolen 3 times - don't ask!- and has got the important stuff back most times even though they didn't actually catch the thief!

I strongly suspect a pickpocket. I put the wallet in my shorts pocket and zipped it up after changing a note in the lottery shop and just after I left the shop somebody brushed into me and it could have happened then. I only relaized it was missing when I had to pay for some fruit in the indoor market and the zip was open and the wallet was gone:(.

I'm not sure that you will get another residence card now, they stopped them at the end of March .... you're going to end up with one of those pesky certificates :frown:

I picked up my new residencia card last Friday after mine was stolen a month ago and I live in the same area as Mitzipurr. They still issue duplicate cards for residencias lost or stolen, though a paper certificate for new applicants or renewals, the police told me. You need to take police denuncia, passport and copy and photos to National police. They check your fingerprints and the process takes 3/4 weeks. No charge to pay or lengthy forms to fill in. Having done that, my wallet turned up, empty of cash but with all the cards a week later, so do report it to the Local police as well as the National and in most cases apparantly it is found.

Hi Lis.

We must have just missed each other, I picked up my card last friday! I got the card but the children got the certificate, it is a real pain in the passport, not that I ever need to carry the childrens ID unless we go to gib.

Oh dear Mitzipurr, that is dreadful hugs and karma coming your way.

I had my purse stolen from my bag on a rush hour train one evening, only had £3.00 in it but I can remember feeling really angry at the time and thinking "well your need must have been greater than mine, I hope whatever you buy with it chokes you".

Hi thank you for that information I will give it a week to turn up and then do something about replacement card.

Does anybody know who has been in a similair situation know if the police or guardia civil inform you that your wallet has been handed in or have you to pester them please?

Apparently MOST wallets and handbags stolen are either found or handed into a ploice station within a couple of weeks, usually all that is missing is the cash, unless your PIN number is also in your wallet. Karma sent

The Local police phoned me when my wallet was handed in but I can´t imagine the National police ever doing that. Report the loss to both of them; to the Local if you want a chance of getting it back as they deal with lost property, and to the National for insurance claims, denuncia, replacement cards etc. It´s nothing to do with the Guardia civil. I would advise not waiting longer than a week before applying for a duplicate card as at the moment they are still reproducing cards which I suspect might not be for long and it´s a simple free process totally unlike applying from scratch. If your card does turn up, nothing lost except half an hour of your time and you have something to show that you have applied if you are stopped by the police. My wallet didn´t turn up for over two weeks; you know Spain.
