Just wanted to warn you all of calls from 'Telefonica'
Very briefly..I contacted them last week to upgrade to 10mb, now just waiting on new router.
Got call about hour ago from a lady at 'telefonica' wanting to confirm details for the delivery of the router. She said the name and address and i confirmed they were correct. She then asked me to confirm my bank account for the direct debit. I straight away was suspicious so even though I dont have direct debit I wouldnt have given them the details anyway.
She kept insisting on re confirming the details. in the end I hung up.
I then had 3 calls from 3 different people on 3 numbers at 'telefonica' all trying the same thing.
I rang telefonica who said (as I suspected) that they had not contacted me and that i was right to be suspicious as it was likely to be another provider. Apparantely once they have your details they can change you over to their service without your permission. As they dont have any of my bank details I am ok.
Since that phone call to telefonica literally 10 mins ago these scammers have phoned me 4 more times. I told them very politely where to go and that i wasnt interested and on final call i blew a whistle down the phone.
I know most of us are cynical and untrusting but it worries me that they could easily scam innocent parties.
If a company you are contracted with do happen to phone you they would have your bank details and would not need to ask.
Please be careful

I keep getting numerous calls from Telefonica or Movistar trying to upgrade my package but I would never do anything over the phone anyway.

Alot of telesales call via computer generated numbers ,10 or more numbers at a time ,the first one who picks up gets the hard sell , the other 9 are left wondering who called and hung up before they could answer.
With cold calls I usually give the phone to my 7 year old who winds them up until they hang up

I hate cold calls....if its not phone providers or internet providers then its usually specialist exterior paint covering companies
