As the Touran is advertised as a 7 seater (at least with some rental companies) it all depends on how much luggage you have and whether you mind having some of it on your lap from airport to wherever you are staying. Why not pop round to your local VW dealer and check out for yourself?

Hi
Just had a look on google - looks quite spacious for sitting but with luggage as well i would do as El Capitan says and go and check one out as the boot space dont look that big with all seats up. Sorry xxxx

The problem is the 2 extra seats would only be useful for children and then if you have luggage packed in around/behind them then there of course is the safety aspect.
We sell many of these and I can honestly say that I wouldn't risk turning up and hoping for the best unless they of course have bigger hire cars you can take if it's too small.
This is the space you will have left for luggage (about 2 mid size cases worth):

Also remember you will no doubt need childseats aswell.

It will be a extreme stretch if you have the 7 seater version as the 2 extra seats take up most of the luggage space.

I drive one of these and would agree that, unless you are travelling light - which I doubt with two toddlers, then it will be a struggle. There is a fair amount of leg room in the back though (not the boot/seat area), so if you are all short and the journey is short, it might be possible to get away with it.
While in Spain earlier this month we rented one. we had 4 suitcaseswhich filled up the cargo area with the back seats folded down. With the seats up, you might fit one or two at most.
We did love the car though- had the six speed diesel (had to remember how to drive a stick again, uffff) which had a lot of pep and drove nicely and got great gas milage (45 mpg).

I like the car too, I average about 50-52 mpg - but then I've been a steady driver recently. Force of habit of taking it easy when I had a Discovery which you can hardly race around in. And of course cameras everywhere now.

One thing we learned from experience - never take hard suitcases if you're hiring a car. Soft ones can be "persuaded" into the corners or put on the floor of the back seats and the kids just put their feet on them - if theit legs reach that far!! Also don't stuff them too full (the cases not the kids). They don't get damaged on the flight either.
