Smile VOTING DAY IS THIS SUNDAY 22nd MAY

Here's what you do on polling day :-

You need to take your voting card, passport or Spanish driving licence (not English) and, if you have received it in the post, an envelope and voting slip for the party you want to vote for. If you haven't received one then there will be plenty in the polling station which will be open from 9.00am - 8.00pm.

The voting slip should not be marked in any way. You are voting for the party and not an individual. There will be approx. 23/25 names on each list, depending on how many seats each party win on percentage basis. ie. One party wins 10 seats then the first 10 names on the list are the ones who get in to the town hall.

Any voting slip that is marked in any way will be classed as spoiled and not counted
I have heard that problems have occured with the delivery of Voting Cards to large areas of Esuri. The cards for Marina Esuri, Rago 3 and Lomas Esuri and maybe others have been held back at the Tow Hall and have to be collected. Just pop into the council office with photo (ID preferably passport) and it will be handed to you. You will need this on Polling Day.
We have received our voting cards in the post

OFFICIA DEL CENSO ELECTORAL

The polling station is:- I.E.S.GONZALEZ DE AGUILAR CALLE ALAMOS DE LOS S/N. This is the school across the roundabout from Mercadona

We can do our part to change things in Costa Esuri by using our vote.

Great post.... Thanks John.

Hmmmm the voting cards held up at town hall for CE! I wonder is it just a coincidence - after all the CE residents are not happy with the incumbent mayor. Or am I seeing conspiracy theories everywhere!!

Its interesting that there are postal delivery problems here - and we are treated less well than the rest of the Ayamonte area, yet they still want to take extra monies in the EUC. All very suspicious.....

BTW did we ever see the mobile medical clinic offered by the mayor as a pre-election vote gathering exercise... Didnt work as no-one I spoke to believed it in the first place.

A simple post box for the huge community here seems impossible....

But thats a soapbox that Ive put away (for now) - so rant over!

Lets hope the people vote for change at the top.

Jon

I omitted to say that on Sunday there will be two elections taking place at the same time. The one we are allowed to vote in is the Municipal Elections for the Mayor and the Town Council and you use the white voting sheets the other is for the Comunidad of Andalucia and has green sheets.

So remember vote early and vote often but only on the white voting sheets and white envelopes.

Well we have been and voted and one felt 18 again since it is so different to UK. More like the 60's with the GC guard on the gate. However once inside it was more relaxed and we were welcomed by Janice who told us how the process inside the station works. The poll clarks were outnumbered by the party reps but it was clear who was in charge and the lady behind the clear plastic poll box speaks some English so it was really very easy.

A word of warning the polling station is not in the infants school directly opposite Mercadonna it is about 100m futher down the hill past the BP station turn right and it is immediately on the left you won't miss it a very smart GC officer is at the gate of the senior school.

Remember we have one chance in four years to make a difference today is that day, the world did not end last night so lets make it better for the next four years Vote today!!!

The poll station is open until eight o'clock tonight so if anyone wants to vote and can't get down there (it is too hot to walk) let me know and I could give a lift. More like the 50's but I even remember when not a lot of people owned cars the parties in UK used to get their supporters to offer lifts.

PS kath wants to know if its safe to swim during a lightening storm? My "A" level physics fails me on that one.

Does that mean we are stuck with the old Mayor?

Looks like it

This post is based on heresay figures but worth posting because it is a pat on the back for Esurians. The pollling station at I.E.S.GONZALEZ DE AGUILAR CALLE ALAMOS DE LOS S/N was I understand newly created to cater for Esuri (probably the nearest sensible place) and it was therefore easy to produce numbers of voters quickly. It is said that 300 of us voted which I think shows a good commitment when you look at the residential demographic of Esuri. It tells the politicians of all parties that we exist and that we care.
