Can any one tell me at what time do the polling stations open and at what time do they close. No one seems to know where I live.

No nothing whatsoever on ours, only the place for voting.

I'm not even sure if you can only vote for one person..........there are that many on the list. And do you have to take NIE, Passport, Empadronamiento, inside leg measurement in triplicate etc as usual?

You vote for the whole list of the party that you want to take office and No. 1 on the winning list is the new Mayor. You must only vote on using the white list by placing the list in the box DO NOT MARK the list in any way.

Don't forget to take your Bra size or all is lost!

Re: Voting

As usual corruption is on the cards... (I'm glad to say it's come from the 'other' party, not the one I am voting for)- some expats here who have NOT registered to vote and are not on the electoral roll have been told that if they turn up with their passports then they will be able to vote.

Surely they have to be on the electoral roll, not just the empadronamiento? I remember we had something come through the post several years ago which we had to fill in or sign to register to vote.

My understanding is that you need to register to vote, having the padron is not sufficient.

Spot on you need to have placed your name on the voters list which is separate from the Padron but you must be on the Padron first.

Re: Voting

Thanks, as I thought.

We are on the Padron AND the electoral roll because we took the trouble to register, so I hope these other people who have not bothered are not allowed to vote. If they are I won't bother again.

I just voted and incredibly my out-of-date Residencia (2007) was accepted without question as proof of ID.

Re: Voting

We just voted and no-one even looked at our ID (we took out-of-date residency cards and passports). I knew they wouldn't, everyone knows everyone else in this small village.

Re: Voting

VOTING DAY IS THIS SUNDAY 22nd MAY
Well we have been and voted and one felt 18 again since it is so different to UK. More like the 60's with the GC guard on the gate. However once inside it was more relaxed and we were welcomed by Janice who told us how the process inside the station works. The poll clarks were outnumbered by the party reps but it was clear who was in charge and the lady behind the clear plastic poll box speaks some English so it was really very easy They just checked our passports against the list crossed us off with a highlighter and that was it (I have a new passport since we registered on the Padron so the number could not have been the same)

A word of warning the polling station is not in the infants school directly opposite Mercadonna it is about 100m futher down the hill past the BP station turn right and it is immediately on the left you won't miss it a very smart GC officer is at the gate of the senior school.

Remember we have one chance in four years to make a difference today is that day, the world did not end last night so lets make it better for the next four years Vote today!!!
