Default vets on the costa del sol

hey everyone, well we finally made it and are now living the life in Benalmadena!! I am pleased to say my 3 chihuahuas were absolutely fine on the ferry here despite being in kennels!

I am wondering if anyone knows of a good vet in or around Benalmadena? I want to get my chihuahuas registered somehwere soon but have no idea where to go.

There is a very good vet in Benelmadena - dont blame me if i get this slightly wrong as i am doing it from memory! On the opposite side to Barclays Bank there are some turnings, the one with the taxi rank on the corner and booze ciggie shop, the indian restaurant about three shops up, just before the indian is the vets. Sorry if that aint good but after a year things fade. But its in that area. The vet is also a bone specialist.
Hope that helps.

There is a nice vet in Benalmadena Pueblo, have no pets ourselves, but have heard good reports, in main street as you go through the Pueblo towards the Stupa, it is on the left hand side.

Both vets I used in Estacion de Cartama were useless, the first one ignored the emergency number that I was ringing when I finally got through to another number the vet couldn't help as they were at a feria. Result being I helplessly watched my beautiful dog die a painful death after being poisened.

The second vet completely truamatised my dog whilst takeing blood. My other half was in the surgery with him while I sat in the car with our other dog. I could hear him sqealing and howling like you wouldn't believe for about half an hour. Whilst this "vet" butchered him as he couldn't find his veins and just kept jabbing him. In the end I had enough and went in to find him on the table shaking like you wouldn't believe with a muzzel on him. I was not best pleased also this vet was terrified of my dog (who is a big baby) and my dog could smell his fear which made him worse.

The same vet completely mis-informed us about the regulations for bringing them to the UK and if I had followed his advice and not contacted defra myself my dogs would have been taken into quaranteen for six months.

The thing is they say dogs and their owners are alike and I'm inclined to agree as when I have blood taken they can never find my veins either.

As for vets in Benelmadena I haven't clue but the marina is nice there.

Hi
We go to a animal hospital in Alhaurin al Grande which is excellent*************** many stars. They speak english and explain everything about treatment. We have 3 dogs & 2 cats and we trust the vets with them. I know it is out of your area as it is ours it takes 27 mins from where we are in Pizarra and looking on route master 29 mins from Benal.
They are open 9-21hrs. and have 24 hour emergency. Tel no. 952 59 43 90.
Hope this helps.

hello eales, sorry for the amount of time it has taken me to reply to your post - we have been without internet connection since arriving in Spain. So far, you seem to be the most pleased with your vets and i would be very interested in hearing exactly where this vets is?? I have never even heard of Alhurin al Grande but if it's only half an hour away then i would be happy to take my chihuahuas there. Do you have an address so i can put it in our Tom Tom???
