Any advice on most cost-effective way to sending proceeds of sale to the UK? TIA

A friend of mine used Currencies Direct and was very happy with the service. They have an arrangement with La Caixa whereby a bank draft for the sale proceeds can be deposited in an account with them with no fees charged for paying in the bank draft, and subsequently transferred to your UK account. A Currencies Direct representative accompanied her to the notary's office then to the La Caixa branch to handle the process. Might be worth contacting them to ask about it.

Have sold my house in Spain. Need advice from experienced people on best and safest way to transfer money to my UK bank account without incurring heavy fees, which my bank (Sabadell) would probably charge. Payment will be by Bankers Draft. Advice appreciated. TIA

I may be wrong but surely all you can do with a cheque (assume it is in Euros) is pay it into your Sabadell account - any costs depend on the type of account and the deal you have with them.

Then you can transfer it to the UK - but use a currency transfer company - as per many posts on this site Wise gives one of the best deals available

You asked this question a few days ago, and in response I posted a link to Currencies Direct who have (or had, you would need to contact them to check it is still available) an arrangement with La Caixa which allowed a bankers draft to be paid into an account with them with no fees charged, then the funds transferred to your UK account.

To all those who recommended Wise (and I know Wise are very good for foreign exchange transfers), please could you explain the process for paying a banker's draft into a Wise account?

As had been mentioned pay the bank draft into Sabadell and then transfer the Euros out to Wise (or your preferred exchange provider) … convert to Sterling and then transfer to your UK bank - easy and can be done in a few minutes once the draft has cleared into Sabadell.

Does Sabadell not charge to deposit a bankers draft into an account with them? Would they not also charge to transfer out even if we use Wise, Currency Direct etc.? Also hw long is a Bankers Draft valid for?
