Valentines Day

I think its all a load of hype just like xmas. But just wondering if you celebrate it and if so what romantic things are you doing today?

We don't really celebrate it as such. Restaurants get too full and the price of flowers goes through the roof. I am cooking her a curry though.

And I've got an idea for dessert... ;)

Hate the hype and money making that occurs. My OH always cooks a lovely meal for me and of course we take the opportunity to have a bottle of Cava. The young lady who comes to us to practice her English was taken aback when we were surprised that she is not seeing her boyfriend tonight.

Re: Valentines Day

I was woken up this morning by a huge HGV pulling up outside my apartment. Quite how they managed to get the thing into the port I have no idea. But it caused a huge traffic problem and pretty much blocked up the road.

3 Guys jumped out of the cab and arrived and like an army of ants started carrying out crates upon crates to my apartment door.

Next minute my intercom phone is ringing, and theyre for me!! I thought what the hell is going on. So i went down there and by this point the crates were blocking up all the pavement so people couldnt walk by. Each crate with my name on!

They were all labelled up "To Onlineamiga, Valentines Day" I opened a box and it was full of valentines day cards from all different people.

I had to tell the guys to stop unloading any more! I physically woudlnt fit all these boxes in my apartment!

So I am really sorry if I didnt get your card, but I had no where to put it.

Right, that's clear then. Onlineamiga didn't get any thing;)

Every day is Valentines Day for me and Hubby:wub::wub: We made each other a card and to night we will jointly cook our meal and sip our Cava, then I expect we will do what we do any other evening.................

He'll watch the box and I'll be on here:huh:

There is still 11 hours 14 minutes of the day left. Plenty of time for all those anonymous secret admirer cards to come flooding in!

We think it's a load of hype too, and just treat it as any other day (same as Christmas!)

Trouble is, O/H is on week 2 of a 7 week stint in the States................so every day is a "missing you" day :(

We manage to Yahoo or speak most days, so it's not too terrible.
I am reassured that he will more than make up for it, once he's home again

So, tonight it's just me and the dog - and she's asleep!

Hello,
All my days are like "valentine day" it's true. I got married just 5 years ago, i was 45 years old and getting married wasn't part of my plans. I always thought i was going to be single all my life, the idea i had about men wasn't very good, i had had not very good experiences with them but in the end, i met him and all the ideas i had about men changed. He is great and he is always thinking of me. Each day is a valentine day!!
Regards,
marisol

Aaaahh! What a lovely post

How wonderful that you have met the man of your dreams, and that you are so happy together.

Perhaps I can join yours and Crispy's "club!?"
I also have a Mr Wonderful, who totally restored my faith (and my broken heart) after my first husband decided that he "didn't want to be married any more!"

Almost 13 years later, he's still every bit as gorgeous as that very first date, and I love him to bits!

PS Is that your German Shepherd in your avatar?
We have one too; best dogs in the world!

Hello Brisca
I have learned very little with the years but one thing that i know now is that when something wrong happens, something that makes you think that is the end of the world, that your heart is not going to stop hurting, then, when the time passes you find out that you have to thank this event has happened, i mean, if your first husband hadn't decided that he didn't want to be married any more you wouldn't have met your true love

Yes, he is my German Shepherd and he is as if he were our son, as we don't have any kids..:)

You are absolutely right marisol
I also believe that things happen for a reason; and I count my blessings every day
I'm also very fortunate that I am still friends with my ex husband, and I adore his "new" wife and their baby son.

Snap! Our 8 year old "puppy" is our child substitute too.
She's absolutely wonderful
Your boy is muy guapo! How old is he?

My boy, Roco, is 4, he will be 5 years old next October.

I had other, his name was Rufo and i loved him so much..., he was my best friend, he always was where i was. He took care of me since he was a puppy. Rufo was a German Shepherd but of work-line (i don't know if it's the word in English, in Spanish we say "linea de trabajo"). The day i had to sleep him was one of the worst days in my life. He will be always in my hurt.
I'm sure he will be in the heaven playing with his friends and he keeps on taking care of me.

It's a pity dog's life is so short, but the important is the quality of life and not the quantity and our dogs are really happy, so that's the most important.:)

Well Roco is a very handsome boy indeed!

I understand exactly what you mean about the companionship and love that a dog offers.
We also had another German Shepherd, who was sadly only 8 when we had to have her put to sleep. It broke my heart, and I still cry when I think of that awful day - even though it was 8 years ago :(
She helped me through the terrible time when my ex husband left, and she was my rock.

As you say, the important thing is that our dogs are well loved and cared for, and they will always be in our hearts

There are a lot of dog lovers on this forum, so you're in very good company
We've gone a bit off thread here, but I'm sure we'll be forgiven ;)

You're quite right in what you say about "linea de trabajo".
In English it's "from a working line" or simply "a working dog".
I hope my Spanish will be as good as your English one day!
