I do not think so because when I was at the Sueca station which is on the Gandia to Valencia line a person was asking for a ticket to Barcelona and was told that they had to buy their ticket from Sueca to Valencia and then buy Valencia to Barcelona when they got there.
Saying that there must surely be many people who have this same difficulty so there must be something that people can do. The biggest problem really is the fact that this person is travelling on a Sunday because of course on weekdays it is a shorter time between trains.

They could pay 100 euros for a taxi but probably no safer and no quicker. I seem to remember getting a free onward local train ticket with my last trip down from Barcelona. I did not make use of it as it seemed to be a bit of a faff to do so at the Valencia end. I also think that there is the possibility of getting a free local train to the departure station also. I think I have thunk too much, I'm orf!
