Hi Mitzypurr
What a lovely surprise to hear from you; and to know that you are happy, and sounding settled in your new life
May you have continued happiness.
It would be good to hear what life is like in Thailand.
How does a typical day there, compare with one here??
All the very best to you,
Sam.

Hi everybody. Many thanks for all your kind words I am really touched by them.
How can I describe a typical day in Thailand? Well for a start everybody smiles at you. The shops and staff are there to serve you and they are happy to help in any way they can. Shops open at 9am and stay open until late at night. Banks and the staff are very efficient and obliging. I opened a account at one and within fifteen minutes had account, credit card and pass book.
Went for a buffet at the side of the Mekong river tonight. It was superb and you could have has much meat, seafood. salad and other Thai specialities that you wanted. You picked it yourself and took it to your table. They then brought you a steel pan with domed lid full of burning charcoal and a kettle full of hot water and you cooked it yourself. The total cost was 183 bahts with a drink and sweet for two people.
Found out today that the Mekong river is over 200 feet deep in places! It has a very special place in Thailands history and folklore. Many spectacular festivals are held on it each year. One very special event in two days time is the Naga Fireballs here is a link in case anybody is interested http://www.tatnews.org/emagazine/1611.asp. People come from all over Thailand to witness this.
Do I miss anything? To be totally honest yes british TV. However we have UBC which has a number of film, sports, current affairs, docs etc channels in English. Just had this installed and the cost with dish and reciever was 2500 baht. The package I picked is 1500 a month. At the end of each month you can upgrade or downgrade your package if you want to. If you decide to cancen they come and take the equipment away and give you back the 2500 baht!
Finally to leighbloke. Let me assure you she may be Thai but she is plenty enough down and dirty for me!!

Wow Mitzypurr,
Thanks for posting that! It was a great read
It sounds like you are very happy, and enjoying all the new experiences that are coming your way.
How many bahts are there to the £/$/Euro?
The meal sounded fantastic, however much it cost!
Glad you've got yourself some English language TV; that must make a big difference.
How are you getting on with the Thai language??
Asian languages always sound very complex to me!
Does your Thai lady speak any English?
The naturally occurring fireballs sound beautiful. Will you be able to see them from where you live?
I enjoyed reading the link about the myths around them. I didn't read about why they actually occur, because I preferred the story about Bhudda instead
I hope you get to see them, and that they add to the peace and tranquility that you seem to be experiencing.
Wishing you continued happiness, and looking forward to hearing more exotic tales in future
All the best,
Sam.
