A Universal Plug Socket - At Last ?

It seems the Chinese have come up with a universal plug socket, this will be a boon to expats everywhere.

Clever idea, but I doubt it will catch on elsewhere.

We have three different adaptors in with our 'Forrin 'otel tea making kit' and we were still defeated by the ingenious plug at the last place we over-nighted in Bordeaux, there's nothing worse for us English than having to wait till 7am. for your first cup of tea.

Wonder who they stole that from? They only know how to rip ideas off.

You can buy these that simply plug into a normal European socket - and they'll accept any kind of plug. It's so slim and fits so flat, it doesn't look like an adapter - looks like the socket is simply made that way.

We have a few plugged in around the house for guests - they cost about €1.50 each at the chinese shops.
