Ukrainian art convoy defies Russian bombs to go on display in Madrid...

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/nov/23/ukrainian-art-convoy-defies-russian-bombs-to-go-on-display-in-madrid?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other

During the Spanish Civil War, all the famous works of art in the Prado (Madrid) were relocated to Valencia (where the government had moved to) but as the war progressed and Valencia was threatened they were moved again to Switzerland and displayed in an exhibition to raise funds to cover the transport costs and the Republican cause. After the war Franco reclaimed them and they were all returned to Madrid.

Typical “ultra” left Guardian puff piece in their hope that some will be gullible enough to contribute to their begging at the end of this twaddle.
All in my opinion of course.

If I can be permitted to make a vaguely politically themed comment in response, I'd be intrigued to know the reason for that article being considered, by anybody, "ultra" left.

Or any left.

The Grauniad is hardly ultra left. They couldn't really manage to get their heads round Corbyn's policies which were indistinguishable from those in many European social democracies.

Back to the piece itself, I thought it would be obvious that if you destroy a country's art and culture then you're half way to destroying the country itself. There's nothing particularly left-wing or right-wing about saying that.
