It should be fine as long as you know how to reconfigure it for use with Telefonica.
Don't forget a plug adapter!

Thanks, how much reconfig is actually involved. Is it only the SSID and security key, or are there more settings that will need to be reconfigured?

Look at THIS!
Skip the initial bits relating to accessing the router as supplied by Telefonica, and begin from the WAN connection.
Though you'll probably be better off just using the one Telefonica supply you because it's pre-configured.
However, be aware they disable the wireless option, but you can just go back in and re-activate it with the access codes on the link.

I've only seen the Conexant chipsets bundled with the package Fred.....they don't have that option. So it's necessary to adjust the firmware to enable it for those.
What model are you referring to?

I have the Telefonica Zyxel P660HWD1.
It came preconfigured and just needed to be connected. As I said there is a recessed button at the back which switches the WiFi on or off.

Re: UK Wireless Router in Spain
Hi, thanks to all for the info so far.
The model I'm planning to use is a Belkin N1 Wireless Modem Router which apparently has a stronger signal level for greater distance, and higher speed.
I assume I will also need to replace the comms cable that goes from the Router to the Telifonica socket on the wall for a type that has the same connector as the wall socket that which is normally used in Spain for telephone connections. I think it's called an RJ11 type. Is it easy to obtain the correct cable?
