Commiserations to anyone who has to travel in the UK at the moment. Aparently a lot of councils (for various reasons, mainly financial) haven't done much gritting so roads and pavements have become skating rinks. There hasn't actually been that much snow (most airports have stayed opened or at the worst closed for a couple of hours) but it's been ground into ice in many places and made roads impassable. Perhaps more worrying is that in many places the footpaths are lethally slippery; I imagine the A&E departments are full to bursting at the moment. Good news is it's forecast to turn milder in the UK in a couple of days.

2 inches of snow and the UK grinds to a halt. This is the second time in a row at xmas that I got out of the UK as the snow started.

The news today had a guy from Boston USA moaning that there they get several feet of snow and he still managed to leave the US and now he's stuck in a UK airport because of a 1 cm of snow.
I agree the UK does grind to a holt when it snows, it just does not snow much.
But last year I rememeber about an inch of snow for a day, the year before that no snow, the yr b4 that no snow etc.
My point being.
Its expensive job having lots of people and equipment doin nothing for yrs.
Now if we had snow for weeks at a time for several months, every year, then yes invest in it.
Or just do what I did and buy a Landy, good walking boots and snow chains
