Spanish passports are issued on the spot at Policia Nacional stations, aren't they? So as well as applicants' identity being able to be verified in person (a good thing imo), old passports don't have to be posted anywhere or new ones sent out using couriers.

We posted ours back last December, just ordinary mail not signed for, and got a message from the Passport Office 3 days later confirming they had been received and our applications were being processed.

My passport renewal has just been approved. I have to admit that I have been very anxious because the photo that I submitted was only rated as "fair" but it was the best that I could do. The site states that it is being printed. Can anyone remember how long it took from approval to receiving it?

Appliaction approved 13 May, printed 14 May, received 19 May.
