Default UK Degree (BA) Recognition in Spain/ homologación título británico en España

Hi guys!

Really hope you can help me. I did my degree (BA in Politics, Honours Degree - 3 years) at Queen Mary, University of London (2006-2009) and I need it to be recognized in Spain in order to seat the exams to become a civil servant (oposiciones). I only need the Spanish Ministry to recognize I have a LICENCIATURA, no matter which one, but a LICENCIATURA (not a diploma or anything else). The thing is that my UK degree was only 180 European Credit Transfer System, not the 240 a Spanish licenciatura en Ciencias Políticas requires.

Has anyone succeed in getting their degrees recognized by the Spanish Ministry of Education?

Many thanks in advance.

As Concierge for the Spanish section of BE I would like to say hello and welcome.

BE is a very large expat website, so if you have problems finding your way around we have concierges who will try to direct you. The moderators for the Spanish forums are Mitzyboy and Fred James, moderators are there to ensure that the site runs smoothly within the rules of BE. Problems and complaints should always be addressed to a moderador who will look into the matter and deal with it efficiently and fairly. Our members who post in the Spain Forums are friendly and helpful with a wealth of knowledge of the issues of living in Spain. At the top of the page you will find a quirkily named thread called Free Beer which is full of important and useful information. Hope you enjoy your time participating in the forums.

Please let me know if you need any further help.

Rosemary

think you should worry more about the language rather than the degree
Spain has more unemployed people with degrees than you can shake a stick at
One guy I know has 3 degrees and he pumps petrol weekends and is studying German and English so he can get out of the country

My nursing qualifications and my husbands medical degrees have been recognised. His qualifications confused them somewhat as he is more qualified than Spanish Gp's but we have the right paperwork and more qualifications than less is more useful when transferring across. His took about 6 months and we had to involve Solvit to help us along the way. Mine only took about 6 weeks

Language is not an issue for me, but thanks for the advice! And I know about the situation, I'm actually living in Spain right now, it's just so depressing... But I need the degree recognition for a long-term project, so no need to worry about that right now...

Thanks!
