We re-registered to vote in May in Northamptonshire. Here we sit on Wednesday July 3rd on Vancouver Island, Canada. Needless to say, no postal ballots! Sarah |

You will probably eventually receive them with underpaid postage !
I had mine sent to my UK home as we were visiting for a short time and luckily they arrived quite quickly (LB of Hillingdon), it does seem to be hit and miss based on the local authority. |

Echoing Fred’s comment, we faithfully voted via postal ballots until our 15 year cut-off in 2020.

Re: UK 2024 GE Vote return envelope?
Just looked through my old emails from my UK local authority re voting. I thought it was every three you had to register as an overseas voter but it annually. As mentioned earlier we always get a reminder when we need to renew ours.

My last confirmation says it lasts one year and that they will remind me 3 months before expiry by email. Maybe next years renewal will be for 3 years. For some reason i thought that was what it used to be mind as i get older my memory gets a little foggy these days .

Overseas elector’s declarations must be renewed approximately every three years. A renewal form will be sent out to you as a reminder approximately four months prior to your annual renewal.

Looks like it may vary between councils:
But there's an anomaly there ... "approximately every three years" coupled with "prior to your annual renewal". |

The 15 year limit on voting rights for British citizens living overseas has been removed, and the registration period for these voters has been extended from one year to three. This means that overseas voters will only need to register to vote every three years. |

i have just checked my emails again re as you mention the anomaly. Oddly the registration as absent overseas voter is annually and registration as postal voter is every 3 years . Again you would think the registration for each would match but they dont .
