Default TV Query

hi
we shipped our plasma tv from the uk to our home in denia in may and since then we keep getting random black stripes on our screen. they do seem to come and go! sometimes one - sometimes 4!
has anyone else experienced this with their tvs?
as we live on the montgo we wondered if it was to do with the humidity (in the summer) or dampness now? or maybe the tv is just on its way out.......?

We had plasma that got a black strip at the bottom of the screen that got bigger and the whole screen went black.
This happened after about 21 months so was still in warrenty and we got a new set.

I think thats an indication of a failing screen. We've had our plasma not so far away from you, and no problems. It certainly can be humid around here though

Very delicate and temperamental some of those plasmas.
Much like women, they need to be handled with great care or else they can switch off or blow up at any moment.

Maybe it didn't enjoy the journey down from the UK.

The first thing to try is to change the connections you are using.

Change the scart cables that connect your AV equipment to the TV - as these can fail and cause problems.

But stable black lines do tend to mean its on its way out.

thanks - we will try that.
although the tv is 5 years old - do you think this is a realistic lifespan for a plasma LG TV?
