Default Tourism up?

Apparently Benidorm hotels are technically 100% occupied this coming week (vs. 91.6% last year). I wonder if this is a sign of a tourism upturn or just a blip?

Jávea is heaving!!

the bars & restaurants not as much as you'd expect though - just the supermarkets, roads & beaches - I suspect the vast majority are doing their own thing, since we mostly have 'villa rentals' here

Busy here. No idea whether it's higher than normal though.

Well it's a Puente, Aug 15th Feast of the Assumption. Did you not read that millions were expected to take to the road

Be careful! The armchair warriors are going to boycott Spain apparently, because of Gibraltar.

I would imagine that the current unrest (killings) in Egypt will divert more people to Spain. That can't be a bad thing. for Spain and expats living there.

One of the MEP.s who represent the handfull of voters in Gib has said that Brits should boycott Spain.
Just goes to show how influential MEP,s are and how seriously the average Brit takes them.

Safe holiday resorts are reducing yearly. Turkey isn't without problems either. I was surprised that tourism didn't increase more than it did in Spain last year. Tunisia must be dead after all the hard line Islamists have gained power. The recent rhetoric against the UK won't have done much good for UK tourism to Spain though, we shall see, too early to show up as people travelling there this summer will have already booked and paid for flights this summer. Long before the mierda hit the fan.

59 million tourists expected this year, but some parts of the sector aren't doing so well.

that doesn't account for the past couple of weeks - though the fact that it's August does

it does seem a lot busier than the past couple of years - mostly Spanish visitors though

My area is full up with Spanish holidaymakers, there is no room for any more.

I saw a strange thing on my travels this morning. A Spanish women placed her order with a Spanish waitress and the waitress asked her to repeat it several times, shaking her head as she walked away.

The middle aged Spanish lady had asked for and got a pint of lager. At ten o'clock in the morning. I've never seen that before.

Haven't been to Bavaria?

8:00am is breakfast time - Weisswürst mit süssersenf und wiessbier, occasionally with a cognac coffee. Alternatives are Lieberkäse and spiegelei (fried eggs) - in both cases, with Wiessbier (about 6 or 7% alcohol?)

Breakfast of champions!

By the way, here they make a sweet rum called "Amazona" which is how the local workers take their coffee in the morning. Every morning at the bar down the street, the place is full of furgonetas of various stripes, every table full, and each has a bottle of Amazona on it.

Torre del Mar (mainly popular with Spanish holidaymakers) has been heaving all this month too.

We have a Polish family renting a house opposite us for a holiday at the moment, they went down there intending to go to the beach in their hire car yesterday but couldn't find a single parking spot so had to come back! I told them to get the bus instead, it's easier.

We had some friends staying nearby for the last 2 weeks of July and they said it was very busy in Nerja (Burriana Beach was packed apparently) and also the restaurants in Torre were very busy at night.

I know Hamburg rather well, as well as Oberfranken, but never really experienced the early breakfasters, my working day always started early and I couldn't have faced it after a couple of pints of Weizen or Jevens up north.

I went to work on an egg, a hard boiled one.
