Well, emergencies are not the only medically necessary treatments.

I am reading the Finnish SS site and for example long term illness may bring up needs to see a doctor, and that is covered. Maybe you have high blood pressure and need to get it checked regularly or something similar.

Also if you are retired and are paid pension only from Finland and living permanently in Spain, you get your medical treatment just like you would if living in Finland.

If you have a long term illness and you suddenly have a problem then yes you are covered as this would still come under the emergency aspect. However what most people would class as normal medically necessary treatments are not covered.

UK pensioners living permanently in Spain receive their medical treatment but this is not covered by the EHIC card but by forms from the UK that are used to register in the health service here.

I would not always say that Irish pubs are the best for a Guiness, but there are bars that take drink like that seriously.

The last place I would go for a Guiness is a Spanish Bar!

Also just to clarify, I don't have a Ehic card, but I needed some treatment, they asked for my passport, which I had, I had to go back a second time for a followup as well, I am just saying............obviously its better to have one, but I did not need it and that was at Torrevieja hospital, I did have to pay for my meds, but that was peanuts compared to the UK.

As you now live here permanently your EHIC is not relevant however you should have health cover of some sort or you could end up with having to pay for expensive treatment.
