Not really on topic, but going on from what Mitzy said about the USA, I was shocked when in England at a pub/resteraunt place, that when paying by card I was handed the terminal and asked if I wanted to add a tip to the bill!!!!

Needless to say I said no, how rude is that LOL!!

I stopped for a beer in the bar in Corte Ingles in Malaga.

I left a small tip - 20c - and was followed out of the bar by a waiter who insisted in returning the 20c as tips were not allowed!

In restaurants I never tip over 5%. In bars and cafes just a small coin or two.

Spanish friends have said that overtipping by foreigners just means that the locals are now expected to tip the same and they are not happy with that!
