Re: Time keeping
Fanatically accurate! I completely understand that it's my OCD that makes me punctual to a fault and sometimes it's not exactly the best thing but I can't help it.... If I make an appointment I don't understand why people don't meet that time. I do a couple of days a week at an NGS garden each week and am supposed to start work at 9 am.... In the past two years I've not been there after 8.30 yet....

Re: Time keeping
I don't judge people who are late, never would, but it does make me think twice about trusting their time keeping or their ability to keep deadlines.

I believe that it is about respecting the other persons time. If you are late you are showing no respect for them.

I like your signature by the way.
Certainly food for thought when considering some of the characters on here,....... say no more,....... a nod's as good as a wink, eh ?

Re: Time keeping
I'm always on time and I find it unbelievably rude when someone thinks it's OK to turn up two hours late.

I fully agree with that, though there can be the odd occasion for anyone when it is unavoidable, however with most folk carrying a mobile these days its' a big help and respectful to phone ahead in such cases.

Re: Time keeping
We lived in Germany for many years. You're not supposed to show up a minute early or a minute late. You can set your watch on the punctuality of appointments or the train or most things on a schedule.
On one hand, I believe punctuality is important (and seem to surprise a lot of people here in Spain, as punctuality is often unexpected), but I found the rigidity and inflexibility of German society in general to be a bit OTT.

Re: Time keeping
I'm a bit rubbish but can do it when I feel the need is real. For employment, I never felt a real need. It is an inherited trait though. My Mum was a time keeper. My Dad was not.
Mr BEVS is an early bird. Does my head in sometimes but I have come to understand the relaxed nature this can bring.

Re: Time keeping
Always on time unless something's gone wrong. And unlike RM I am judgemental of people who are late for no good reason. They are rude. Do they think I have nothing better to do than hang around waiting for them just because they are so disorganised/uncaring that they turn up 1/2 hour late?

Re: Time keeping
People arriving late to meet me away from home are not a problem.
I will have left.

Re: Time keeping
That's my sentiment as well but the trouble is they might have a genuine reason and have really put themselves out to get there at all. Which makes you look a bit intolerant if you've buggered off. You lose.

Re: Time keeping
I am intolerant, I am not going to lose any more of my life waiting for someone who normally is able to make contact if they have a genuine reason for being late.
