Looking for any timber yards or wood merchants in the Benidorm, Albir, Altea, L'Alfas areas we have already been to Leroy Merlin at Finestrate but this was rather pricy and also have been to Don Bricolage just outside Altea. Seems difficult to source sheets of MDF, ply also lath and wooden posts. It might be looking straight at us having not long arrived we are still unsure of the area and any recommendations or advice would be much appreciated.

Wood is extremely expensive in Spain and rarely used by the Spanish.
It tends to be the Brits who use wood as that's what they're used to.

I don't know your area but I'm sure there are dedicated timber yards there just like there are in my town.
[Wooden constructions will not (in all probability) be approved by building regulations due to termites and the general heat. Why not build the Spanish way?]

Bit late answering but perhaps this helps ... if you can find a Bricomart near you, they are about as cheap as it gets whilst not being disastrous quality. I haven't tried out Aliforest yet but they are near Alicante and have quite some choice on their website for exterior wood. If you google "almacén de madera" you should find a supplier with MDF etc too. It is hugely popular here, but usually referred to as "tableros DM". Plywood is "contrachapado" and is also used quite a bit. Don't dispair, it's always disorientating at the beginning! Good luck! (Hubby is a carpenter/builder so feel free to PM me if you are still stuck)

Thank you.
That's very helpful. Eventually we found what we needed. But for next time certainly good to look around.
