Is San Louis, La Siesta, Toretta 111 nearer to Torrevieja town and what kind of areas are these? Are they large urbanisations.

Sorry about all the questions but I would like to have some idea before I visit.

Thanks
helen

San Luis and La Siesta urbanisations are much nicer than the Torretas and more expensive because of it. It would take a good hour to walk into town from the former, but there's a regular, hourly bus service into town.

The Torretas are much nearer and from Torretta One or Two you could walk into town easily, but it would be the wrong end of town, the Acequion end which is really just two long beaches. It would take an extra twenty minutes to walk into the town proper, a lovely walk though.

Thanks, but I do like to walk and I am quite fit. How long would it take to walk briskly from these urbanisations to town?

Helen

Torreta III is the nearest. Obviously depends on where in the urbanisation you choose to live and how quickly you walk. For example, it is 3.4Km from Parque Lira in Torreta III to Plaza de Constitution in Torre and you would need to be very fit indeed.

Hi Helen:thumbup:
Once you are over you would be far better exploring some of the urbanisations that lay just off the old N332. On nearly all of them it would be only a 10 to 15 minute walk into town. That was one of the reasons I suggested El Pairso early on in this thread. There are at least 50 such areas and at one time held a prime price but not at the moment. But they will go up in price faster and greater when things do kick in again. Yes doom and gloomer's it will in time come back round.

Is Altos Del Limonar near enough to the beach and town? I like the small bungalows with the solarium on top. I know you said that urbanisation is a bit rough around the edges but I'm not sure what that meant.

Also is it only apartments in El Paaaiso?

Thanks again
Helen

Hi Helen
Altos Del Limonar is I would say for walking purposes rather a long way. But there is a bus route. As for El Paraiso, there are just a few bungalow type properties but most are apartments, but they are not apartment blocks, they are only 2 and 3 stories high. In my opinion the older apartments are the best buy as they are larger than the newer ones on El Paraiso.

Hi Helen

From a sefety point of view no problems with that urbanisation but how about Cabo Roig, a bit further down the coast.

It's a bit more lively and more Irish people.

The coastline is lovely too, with some great walking trails along the cliffs.

I think this could be a good time to buy and get a bargain.

Best of luck.

Thanks for taking the time to help. How far of a walk is Cabo Roig from Torre town? Although I still really like one of the bungalows in Limonar.

If possible rent, for at least the next 5 years.

Only unless someone puts a gun to your head, buy. Probably not what you want to hear but just because everything's on a fire sale in Spain doesn't mean it's a good deal.

Apart from that, nice area :)

Thanks for the advice.

Can you tell me why you advise so strongly against please. I do appreciate your honesty.

Cabo Roig isn't walking distance but just thought it was worth suggesting.

I'm not sure why you are so strong on Torrevieja, not that I'm saying anything bad it is just you seem set on there.

It is also because you said something about having been there 7 years ago.

I would definitely agree with the previous person in saying rent.

I still think it is a good time to buy but only when you are absolutely sure and know an area well by living there first.

Thank you for the swift reply. I guess it is because I would be buying alone that I would like to be near to the town and possibly some expat groups that may exist.

I have medium level Spanish also and I would like to be able to improve on it, but not be somewhere where very little English is spoken. I would also like to be near to a good hospital.

I had looked at buying in Turkey last year and though I love the country, I am afraid that I might be lonely in a country where I don't have a word of the indigenous language, and the winters are nicer in Spain. Mind you I have 3 fiends who have bought in Turkey.

Do you have any suggestions as to what you think might suit my needs in Spain.

Thank you again
Helen

Hi Helen
Cabo Roig is far to far from Torrevieja Town to be able to walk into. I love walking and I would see it as quite a long way. However Cabo Roig is a nice area.

Again I suggest you look at Playa Flamenca/La Zenia areas, pleanty to do, next to the beach, good shopping, expat groups around, still plenty of opportunity to practice and improve your Spanish, far more Brits than in Torre itself, very nice sea front walks, and if you do need to go, buses to Torre and you can get to Alicante or Cartagena from there. There are also companies offering bus trips from there, and, if you are prepared to sit through the hard sell speil, the so called 'blanket trips' which do take you on a free day out, but while you are in the coach you have to listen to them trying to sell you their blankets etc. assuming they are still running..

Hi Helen
We have a property in El Salado 11 near la siesta, we like this area,
We are in a gated community with a pool. torrevieja is about 20 min walk.
