Heh! I stand by my original comment. ;) Sit down in a pavement caf one day and do a bit of research on the females that walk by. Your average young spanish girl is much fitter than your average young British girl. But for some reason this rule seems to reverse once they get older. I think they really let themselves go once they get married!

(RugbyMatt - I thought I was getting off with that comment too lightly as well! Seems like it might be catching up with me)

Huevos = eggs = another word for a man's balls. I think the Karma might be for the latter rather than the chicken variety. :D

Why, you don't say.....I bet you are such a stunner that you feel quite justified in critiquing (?) women.

You sound like a pavement perv.

Bet those are quail huevos :p

For what games and venues? I don't think you will have problems offloading them.

Are you coming to watch some rugby with us in Melbourne at some point?

Bloody hope so! Out in late march so we will try and do it then, trying to time it to see a Western Force game but if the OH realises I'm buggered!

I once bought a tin of albondigas because my girls wanted to see if they were like the ones they get at school. I had to borrow a tin opener from a neighbour!!

they were foul anyway so it's back to making my own

We've been here for nearly 6 months.....not missed anything much......as English supermarkets stock gravy, branston pickle, sharwoods curry's etc etc.

When we went back to the UK to visit friends, I brought back HP brown sauce, tabasco sauce and worcester sauce. As they are soooo expensive here.

My friend out here loves Heinz Tomato soup so she get friends to bring out a few tins for winter :) as not came across it out here.

My friends bringing a huge pack of extra mature cheddar as not found a substitute...not even the Irish cheddar from Mercadona......

The last visitors left their shower gel for me, missing the ranges that we take for granted in the UK...only for a second tho....it's little things me miss every now and again.

As still finding our feet....miss going into Boots to get make up, smellies, kids clothes etc.....but as I said it's just we don't know the language to well yet and having two small toddlers, I'm still sticking to a few shops instead of shopping around.

Anyway sorry going on a bit now ..... :D

Mas y mas and Carrefour here stock Heinz tomato soup, as well as several other ones, and there are several British shops here that sell it as well, never had any problem getting it. Mercadonas own brand Depilus are quite good for normal toiletries, seem good quality and last well. Plenty of Aloe Vera products for shower etc.

Also Super Valu have it and several others, was comparing their prices with the British Shops, and the Spanish supermarkets certainly come out on top for value, anything up to 25% less. Things like flour, well a lot of places sell Heritage brand, and that's a very good quality own label form the UK, not sure of the chain, but mainly the small supermarkets in the UK.

All types of flour are a bit difficult to find. Here in Chiclana the English shops are wildly expensive.
I get wholemeal flour, porridge oats, pinhead oatmeal and wheatgerm brought out when poss.
My husband likes his Radox bath salts.
While the Mercadona Irish cheddar isn´t tooo bad I always get a supply of decent cheddar from home.
The other thing I can´t find here is a beautician who knows how to dye eyelashes - prob. cos´there´s not much call for amongst the Spanish population so now I have an order in for an eyelash dying kit from my next visitor!

Anne has the same problem being very blonde. In the UK I think almost all salons offered eye lash dying but here it seems to be quite rare. Anne now buys her own dyeing stuff from specialist beautician shops and does it herself at home.

So far she has ruined one skirt and one blouse by getting dye smudges on them!

Heritage flour is €1.35 a bag, a bit more than the UK, but still not bad, Mercadona flour, well we tried it and the pastry turned out brown, at least from the type we used. Don't think the Spanish usually have self raising, that's why they sell a lot of baking powder as well, least non of the types I've seen say 'con levadora' which is what self raising is supposed to say. The costs in the British shops do seem to vary, but we do have quite a number of different outlets round here, and so I think that keep the prices down, also many of the Spanish Supermarkets do sell a good range of British products. Mercadona here have started to sell 'matur english cheese, not tried it .. yet.., but the normal Cheddars they sell are quite mild.
