Discriminating against people owing to poor spelling is small minded, ignorant & snobbish!!!:curse: Either everyone is free to post or no one is!!! The odd space here and there would help too. ;) Hope That Helps, Matt |

Re: There, their, they're
Even poor grammer is not a problem really, you know from the context what the poster is trying to say, and they may well not have had the benefit of good teaching while at school, or had poor schooling, not always the persons fault.

No excuse for multiple exclamation marks though, that just betrays a lack of confidence in what is being said.

Very well said Icortez! billgates original post may have been useful, had he simply posted: "Please can people learn the differences between the variations. It makes it much easier to read people's postings." There ....... Over there Their ....... Belonging to them Ther're ...... Abbreviation for "they are" Sorted! (exclamation mark required to emphasise finality) Lol! |

Heaven help the current teen generation with their predictive and abbreviated text culture. I don't think they'll ever be able to spell at all. My step-daughter, bless her heart, asks me to read and correct the spelling on all her university essays as she really hasn't a clue how to spell even though she's a very bright girl. It's easy to get hung up on spelling mistakes and I can sympathise with billgates to a degree. But at the end of the day, as long as you get the gist of the post - that's what matters. |
