Testing potable water quality
I remember hearing many years ago that it was possible to get potable water tested by taking it into the local farmacia. Would that be a simple kit type test or is it sent off to a lab for testing?
Many people in our village have been ill for the past 4 months with similar symptoms since the water supply went over to a private company. Blood tests etc have come back negative but now the water company are planning on emptying and cleaning the deposit which may be just a coincidence but I don't trust them and would like an independent assessment of the water quality. If anyone has any info it would be much appreciated |

I was quoted 65 euros by a farmacia to confirm whether potable or not , they said it would also show mineral content , I think there was a more in depth test for more money , I did not bother as you should test at least every six months so I buy bottled for drinking.
However that just relieves the water company of any responsibility. Thanks for the info, much appreciated. |

I guess you pay for your water so the consumer office may help with your suspicions , I only enquired as I have a private supply so if mine is bad it`s my problem:(

Hmmm, 65 is a figure that is a bit high for a clear test but a bargain if it finds a problem. Maybe if I could share the cost but then most here do as you and drink bottled now, including myself.

Dave n Dee, Not sure how but I missed your reply. It seems from the list of just 10 things that it is not a very thorough test. They don't mention many of the things I have read can be silent pollutants but I may have missed something. Thankyou for the info, it all helps. |
