Most UK TVs will not pick up terrestrial anlogue signals in Spain - you will get a picture but no sound, as this works on a different frequency. However, you can get around this by buying a Spanish terrestrial digibox (assuming that you have terrestrial digital reception where you are). The TV will also work fine for satellite reception of course, if you can live without Spanish terrestrial television (which is dire anyway, unless you're into chat shows and pornography).

You can get sound by using a UK tv and a UK vcr - you watch the channels through the VCR. We do this all the time.
Personally I think Spanish tv has gone way down hill and I'd agree with peejay in that most of daytime tv is dire. They don't seem to have chat shows, more like "shout shows".
I thought channel 4 were good at milking big brother but they have nothing on telecinco when it comes to filling up the daytime tv slots.
As for evenings, TVE1 like to make a film last three hours due to commercials but I can't find any good porn
At least these days you have lots of channel choice.

Must try that again - tried a while ago with no luck. I'm not sure if it works with all UK VCRs though. Saying that, I've also got an old Spanish VCR that might do the trick.

Re: televisions in spain
I thought the lack of sound applied to older televisions. I never had a problem with my English TV working and that was 3 years ago now. I just had to retune it to the relevant European region and it was good to go. Same applied to the rest of my family and friends out there.
