Personally non of them existed until somebody thought up the idea of having a good rich life without having to toil for a pitance. Following in the steps of the proponants of other "faiths"

How does that work out?

Jesus, that's all news to me.

Had she been having it off on the side behind old Joe's back then ?

Can just imagine the scandal if the gossip columns of the day had got their hands on that one.

These threads are getting like something out of Kafka unless you pop in every half hour. Always something snipped.

I think the Mods are too heavy handed, shutting one of the longest running threads recently for a bit of namby pamby name calling was pathetic, maybe because the site is Amercian maybe its the way it is there. We don't see it as serious.

I actually feel a bit gutted that Stevies thread has been closed and for him too, very poor.

I went to reply on the 'Learning Spanish' thread yesterday with some advice and that too was closed.

I have no loyalty and worship all 3, preference given to the one that gives the most in exchange rates.
:)

but it would appear that Telegraph bashing is losing steam to get this far off thread so early

Certainly not a job I would want, they are damned if they do, damned if they don't. We might all have our own ideas about what is or isn't acceptable, at the end of the day is down to the mods. We have had people banned for minor infringments, whilst others seems to be able to get away with personal abuse, we're at the whim of the mods, God bless 'em! ;) However, I agree with you, I didn't think it was that bad, but I'm sure it was done with the best of intentions.

:goodpost:

As far as the topic is concerned, I would hardly call the article Spain bashing, and other posters seem to agree.

In any event what is wrong with the press telling it how it is and highlighting any cock-ups or wrong-doings in whichever country they may occur.

Was it not the Telegraph that first brought the widespread corruption amongst UK MPs to light, when others were initially afraid to print it ?

No, nor me, but some seem to have a persecution complex where Spain is concerned, they seem to think the the British press, BBC etc are all out to get them simply because they are giving us the facts. As I've said before if any of these articles helps prevent someone from buying an illegal property, if it informs them that property prices are dropping, cost of living is going up etc then it's done a good job. They are not saying anything that's not in the Spanish press, simply reporting it in a language potential expats can read. For a bit of balance, the Olive press is telling us nearly everyone is happy as Larry, living the dream.

Vested interests, eh ?
Suppose in their world black could be white if it made good advertising.

The Spanish press have a good idea just how serious the problems are and as for the Spanish folk themselves who this is all about, suffering at the sharp end,.... who from the Olive press or in expat communes, cares a toss or fairly reflects their views?..........though from what I've come across myself, their opinions about the mess two successive govts have dropped them into, would be almost unprintable.

I'm a big fan of Salvados, they go for the jugular, just watched a programme about help available for the old, disabled etc, (more accurately, help not available) absolutely appalling. Kudos to Jordi Évole for his report. I'd rather have a few fiddling the system in UK than the thousands in Spain that have been getting from very little to absolutely nothing. I feel for the people concerned.
