How does that work out? I have never heard of James. Was he known as Jimmy Christ, brother of Jesus Christ? Had she been having it off on the side behind old Joe's back then ? Can just imagine the scandal if the gossip columns of the day had got their hands on that one. |

These threads are getting like something out of Kafka unless you pop in every half hour. Always something snipped.

I actually feel a bit gutted that Stevies thread has been closed and for him too, very poor. I went to reply on the 'Learning Spanish' thread yesterday with some advice and that too was closed. |

I think the Mods are too heavy handed, shutting one of the longest running threads recently for a bit of namby pamby name calling was pathetic, maybe because the site is Amercian maybe its the way it is there. We don't see it as serious.

Certainly not a job I would want, they are damned if they do, damned if they don't. We might all have our own ideas about what is or isn't acceptable, at the end of the day is down to the mods. We have had people banned for minor infringments, whilst others seems to be able to get away with personal abuse, we're at the whim of the mods, God bless 'em! ;) However, I agree with you, I didn't think it was that bad, but I'm sure it was done with the best of intentions.
As far as the topic is concerned, I would hardly call the article Spain bashing, and other posters seem to agree. In any event what is wrong with the press telling it how it is and highlighting any cock-ups or wrong-doings in whichever country they may occur. Was it not the Telegraph that first brought the widespread corruption amongst UK MPs to light, when others were initially afraid to print it ? |

Vested interests, eh ?
Suppose in their world black could be white if it made good advertising. The Spanish press have a good idea just how serious the problems are and as for the Spanish folk themselves who this is all about, suffering at the sharp end,.... who from the Olive press or in expat communes, cares a toss or fairly reflects their views?..........though from what I've come across myself, their opinions about the mess two successive govts have dropped them into, would be almost unprintable. |
