Default Telefonica "reduces charges"

I have just been reading that their charges for domestic customers are being reduced if you contact them and ask for a Contracto Basico Hogar. The charge is 13.974 euros (why not just be 14) which includes free weekend calls. Now I thought we already had free calls all the time to other landline numbers. This deal starts tomorrow.

It's really only of interest to non ADSL users.

Well I have just phoned Telefonica/Movistar and they said the only way to reduce the cost was to downgrade from 3mb to 1mb on my ADSL and save 10 euros a month! So annoying.

We found that by doing that (at their request not ours - because we live in the campo and can only get 1Mb service) the price actually went up.

The current pricing structure with Telefonica is that it is cheaper to go for 10 or 3Mb than to go for 1Mb (or so their web site says.)

They will also reduce their price if you tell them you are unemployed!

What about pensionistas? The other week they kept phoning me about an offer and asking for my mobile number. As I amIon Vodafone PAYG I didn´t see why they needed that number but perhaps there is a special offer if you have your mobile with them too. I pay 65 euros a month and that is a lot.

Well I just tried the contracto Basico Hogar because I thought that was for land line only and they told me that that only applied if you had the internet! they then tried to sell me their ASDl for 19.90 per month but looking at it on the internet that is only for one year and then it goes up to 40 odd euros

Well if you can get it for that for a year you will have saved money. They were phoning me again at 9.30 last night. Its about time they reduced the cost of their ADSL for existing customers.
