Put http://192.168.1.1 into your browser address bar. That should take you to the router setup. Username is usually admin and password is admin.
Go into the WiFi setup and you should find the option to change the password.

Lynnxa, mine is 192.168.2.1 if that makes a difference
Is it that you can't log in to the router or just that you can't change the password?

That's the number I put in the address bar to access the router.
They're fairly standard, but if neither Fred's nor mine work for you there are ways to find it on your own eg try here http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you...router_address
Once you log into the router you can edit the settings, including password.

If they are using WiFi devices they will quickly know that you have changed the password as they won't be able to connect.
When they ask for the new one just take their device and key it in yourself. They shouldn't be able to find it. If they are really clever they will know how to access your router so change that username and password as well.

now that I know how to change it - I have another punishment up my sleeve

btw - it was 1234 & 1234 - not admin & admin, for anyone else who needs to know

Make sure it is a good long alphanumeric password or it could be hacked.
Yes router username/passwords are usually either admin or 1234 - mine isn't a Telefonica router and it uses admin as the default.
As I said, change that as well.

No don't tell them, as I said if they need it on their device get them to get it to the point of entering the new password and do it for them. It will be remembered so you shouldn't need to do it again.

Don't forget that if someone can inspect the back of your router they can simply use the code shown there to connect remotely.
Wouldn't think you can change that.
