It certainly is! Antonio Machada is the name of the street in which it is situated not the name of the person who runs it.

Telefonica In English and Movistar Online are run by a company called Victoria's Call SL. This is a commercial company which is, in common with many other telecoms suppliers up and down the coast, nothing more than an agent for the real Telefónica.

Presumably they realised that calling the website victoriascall.com would not have fooled people into thinking they were part of the real Telefónica with the same degree of success.

I know, as I said, a company who takes 35 euros without doing anything and no contact and who cannot be contacted via email is in my opinion a risk. Whereas Telefonica the big Spanish company are tried and trusted! For that lady who has paid 35 euros already, did she know that you can get direct debits refunded 20 days after they have gone through your bank account. It was easy, I just went to the counter and said I didn't authorise that payment as they had not installed a phone line yet. She also has stopped any future payments.

beach - i think you will find that they are not even agents. they are just a "third party" company that arranges things for you, like a translation service. look at the price difference in the monthly charges between "their" adsl and telefonicas ? theirs is really telefonicas with an added charge, every month and for installation.

as far as i know telefonicainenglish.com has NO affiliation what so ever with telefonica spain s.l.

i have no idea how they work it, you pay telefonicainenglish and then they pay telefonica ? all very strange and a very good service provided with forsight for the brits who dont speak spanish, if you are prepared to pay for it.

unfotunatly the person who lost out on the 35€ is the proof that they are not to be trusted ? (telefonica charge the installation fees with the first monthly or bi-monthly bill that you recieve)

Thanks for that, at least they are not a complete con! The only reason I tried to use them was because I wasn't diligent when using GOOGLE. I was trying to get my phone line installed around the time we were going to Spain. I thouht I was ordering direct through Telefonica! Well as i said I have got my line through Telefonica SL now and cancelled all payments to this company.

I ordered 1mb Business Broadband around a month ago from Telefonicainenglish (delivery quoted at 10-15 days) I was told it will be billed on my telefonica bill and to expect a router and user ID to be delivered by courier the acceptance of which would 'start' the service. (i.e. I'm accepting the T & C's). I have had several calls chasing them up and they answer the phone witha terse 'hello' absolutely no professional salutation whatever. My daughter is in Spain at the moment and I asked her to chase the order. She was told that they had no record of my name! I emailed yesterday and asked for an update and asked them to be clear if they were unable to supply the service. As yet no response.
No money taken from bank though!

Assuming I'm not going to get anything from these, who is best supplier of ADSL. I need unlimited good service - no ISP or calls required, just ADSL to get to my work server. I have a Telefonica fixed line.

Heres an adsl comparison, but from what I've been told telefonica are the most reliable

As much as I'd like to recommend someone else (to compete against Telefonica's higher charges), Telefonica are your best bet if you rely on ADSL for business reasons.

I'm currently miffed with them for two things; the monthly charge for a fixed IP (which I need, but which costs them nothing other than a setup cost) and their transparent proxy cache which they claim they don't have anymore, but do - the lying bastiches! However, in a year, or so, the competition should have matured a little more and there should be credible alternatives.

I also run my own mail server, which given the failure rates and limitations of Telefonica's, improves reliability for me.

The main issue with other ISPs is the time taken to install and rectify faults, where the fault is in Telefonica's infrastructure. Smaller ISPs can also lose the plot with respect to routing and response during peak usage periods, from time to time.

indeed - dial 1004 from any phone and you should get to the computer thingy, there is another number for ordering adsl - but if u cant speak spanish then use 1004 and when the "beep" comes just say "hablas ingles, hablas ingles" and it should pass you thru to an english speaking operator.

alternativly you can call "bfg69buginenglish" and i´ll do it for you 25€ ...

Sorry it's taken so long Susique but here is the number off the flyer that was pinned to the gateposts in our area a few weeks ago when I was over. As I mentioned before I am in Pago, on the opposite side to the Florentina. It was in English and Spanish, offering Broadband etc. Name is Juan/John Tel: 625384146. Good luck...am posting it on the open forum in case others might be interested..will you give us some feedback if you follow it up ???
