Shouldn't be a problem. When you renew (at least around here) they post you the new card - so no chance in 4 days.

With a digital signature, you can apply online and print off a temporary TSE

Hi, butting in from the France forum! This happened to me last year. I simply got onto the French Health Service site and downloaded a temporary A4 Certificate to cover that trip. The plastic card arrived later. (Those without internet access would go along to their Agency...)
On another front, if the father isn't travelling with you, check whether you need written permission from him to take your child out of the country.

Además, si el menor va acompañado sólo por uno de sus progenitores, se puede solicitar también autorización expresa del progenitor ausente o efectuar una investigación más pormenorizada si sospecha que se ha podido privar ilícitamente de la custodia del menor a quien la ejerza."

Basically confirms that if a child travels with only one parent the frontier services can ask for an authorisation from the non-travelling other parent

You've been lucky, and it looks as though Spain (and probably elsewhere) is the same as France. It was originally initiated here to prevent divorced non-French parents from taking their children "home", and is now also used to prevent minors from going to Syria, for example, to join Daesh (unless of course both parents are accompanying them....).

When i last renewed i think i did the renewal on saturday, and by wednesday i got the new card...fairly fast, depending on your postal service
