As thursday 28th feb is a Spanish bank holiday, could anyone tell me is the mercadona supermarket will be open or closed all day? If closed, where is the nearest supermarket in Portugal which will be open?? Thanks

Hi Sarah don't know about Mercadona will be open or not, it is currently being refurbed and enlarged and at some point is to close for a few days. In VRSTo all the supermatkets will be open I would think the nearest would be Intermarche, then Lidl, then Pingo Doce all the next size down just off the main road will open as well. If you are on Esuri any is almost as close as Mercadona. There is a good one in Castro Marim just at the back of the Market square which is even closer and sells excellent cow beef.

I have seen a sign Mercadona which says it is closed from 2 March to 15 March
