I drove through J Pobre on Tuesday and got lost! Had intended to show a friend one of the new developments that I had looked at buying off plan four years ago and ended up on a dirt track losing all sense of direction. Took me ages to find the main Javea to Denia road.

make the most of it on the CB today and Sat, starting raining again sat night, and all sunday according to local weather forecast. But... the sun WILL return on Monday.

Hiya Chris,

I used to love that about the UK and it never ceased to amaze me when you'd go out and it would be raining and then the sun would appear all of a sudden and the streets would fill with people in t-shirts and toddlers with no socks on. Something like that commercial that was on last year.

Looking forward to a nice quiet sunny weekend (2nd in a row with no work....something must be seriously wrong *lol*), hopefully the weather will hold out too, but just in case it doesn't I had better go and get the clothes off the washing line now. :rofl:

Just got back in, it's bloomin' cold outside today with drizzly rain :( My hands are still cold I can hardly type, got the heating on full whack and thinking of a nice hot bath to warm me bones :) It was sunny yesterday!

I just did....and put them straight back into the washing machine because they've been out on the clothes line in the rain since Monday *lol*

I MUST buy a tumble dryer. I saw one yesterday on offer at Masters for €199, but I figured summer's just around the corner, what do I need a dryer for now :(

I'll be taking mine with me - just in case it's needed. It's great for towels anyway, keeps them soft :)

It's beautiful outdoors here Lionda, but inside it is freeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzing. I've got two electric and a gas heater going and I'm still shivering.

I have never lived in a house without an airing cupboard before and when I talked about this with a friend in UK she thought I was mad. She could not comprehend me needing a dryer or an airing cupboard and still does not appear to understand.

Must admit though that I have been shocked at how cold my house has been this winter. I will be glad when the new windows are in and I can really get everything sorted and put curtains up. Mañana, yeh believe it may happen one day but anyones guess when that will be.

Hi all! You can tell spring is in the air can't you? :D Sam has done her windows (if it does rain Sam, you may be held responsible for everyones wet washing! :blink: Don't know what the forecast is for here in Swansea the week end, but turned out pretty good here today in the end. Even did a bit of tidying up in the garden much to Josh's delight! One weed out, one ball thrown, one weed out, two balls thrown! :ohmy: Not very warm, but at least dry. (For now anyway!) :D

Sometimes when talking to people back in the UK and trying to make them understand the differences here is like banging your head against a brick wall. This winter we have suffered so much from the cold, our electric bill last month alone was over €350 and we still didn't feel warm indoors.

I know the mañana mentality is very frustrating, but I guess you have to take the good with the bad and just go with the flow. Hope your renovation projects finish quickly and without any glitches ;)

get one! I gave mine to my parents when we moved here...............and bought a new one the first week! Of course you don't need it most of the year, but you're really glad of it when you do!

Been looking at tv's today in Currys. Think we will wait until we get to Spain and buy one there. Ours is a very old tv (about 10 years) so we will need a new one in Spain. There are some really nice slimline models around now.

Great deals on plasma's (HD) here too Lionda.

When you get here have a look around and if you don't find what you want at the price you want it, then you could get one from the UK, but trust me they are doing some great deals.

Our last electric bill for a 4 bed house was €58 for the past two months, plus we used about €40 worth of wood to keep "Toasty" indoors.

When we first came to rent this house, it was advertised as "centrally heated". That constituted an aircon (hot/cold) in the living room! We mentioned this little detail to the owner, who promptly went out and bought an electric heater for each of the three bedrooms, another for the hallway and another for the living room. Keep in mind this is a detached property, so does not benefit from anybody else's heating.

We added to this by buying a gas heater to save money. We only use the gas heater in the living room, an electric heater in the office and another in the hallway in hopes that the whole house may benefit.....oh and also an electric heating thingie in the bathroom to be able to take a shower.....but the house is still FREEZING. You walk outside and you want to tear all your clothes off and then you walk back indoors and have to dress like an eskimo....literally.

Romantic evenings with little or nothing on have gone out the window :rofl: well, at least until the summer ;)

Do you put rugs down to help to keep the heat in? I was wondering whether that would help to make the place cosy in the winter months. It would certainly be better to walk on rugs rather than cold tiles.

We live in a 3 bed detached house here in England and our electric bill is £35 and gas (gas central heating) £47 per month, this is worked out over the year and then either we have a credit or debit at the end of the year. Hoping we will be paying a lot less in Spain, now you have made me think again :confused:

You've got me thinking now.....which is a dangerous thing!

Michael and I went outside to try and find the meter, in the hopes that we could switch everything off and see if it is still running......but no meter to be found anywhere.

Which makes me think even harder (you can almost see the smoke coming out of my ears...) that the neighbours are relatives of the man we rent from and since they've moved in (their house is new) our electric bills have more than doubled....and to top that off I think the two plots (this house and the neighbours house) used to be one plot.....at least that's how google earth shows it.....hmmmmmmmmmmm going to have to make a few phone calls tomorrow!

No, unfortunately we have no rugs and I know it does make a difference, but Michael is not very keen on them for some reason.

I will have to find something we both like and make a small investment!

If I see her I may ask. Although she is the niece of the owner.

I've emailed the estate agent so that they can tell me where the meter is. Once we find it, we shall switch the mains off and see if it is still ticking.
