Strange sand fallen overnight.
#1
A curious question but when we went outside this morning we found a fine dusting of a yellowy powder type substance everywhere.
Thought at first it might be sand that had blown over overnight but the weathers quite good at the mo and looking closer it isnt sand at all.
Is this some crop treatment that has blown on us or is it something else.
We just cant seem to sweep it away and its on the plants, terraces etc.
Any knowledge of what it might be would be appreciated.
We do live around lots of pine trees.Would someone be treating them for those horrible caterpillars? i dont know.

dd1 is horribly allergic to it & so am I - not quite as bad as her though
our first spring here we were surrounded by them & she was so bad even with antihistamines that her eyes came up like footballs - I had to go without my contact lenses for a few weeks
it's one reason we decided to move down to the port - we still get some here but not so bad

Since I posted this the terrace has even more of this fine yellow powder.
Got to say none of us feel brill at the mo and my eyes are itching a bit.
How long does it last?

We get it on the CDS but it's Mimosa in our area, the campo is full of it and we have a large tree at the bottom of the garden.

If it is pine tree pollen its weird because it normally affects my other half big time but even though we have a carpet of the dust she has been in the garden today doing lots of cleaning etc and has not sneezed once or been affected at all?
Any other suggestions?
cheers,

A couple of hours after washing the car yesterday, I noticed the same, unusual dust on it. Later we bought some potatoes from a campo woman at the side of a park and she pointed to some nearby flowering weeds and even picked one and asked us to smell it.
She was covered in pollen, just like the car.

Sounds like the rape seed pollen we get in the UK, only its way too early for that.

I'm pretty sure that's what my GP told me in the UK when I suffered from allergies to rapeseed - from early April iirc
