I can't believe I joined a discussion about David Ike (The madman) just when it was being shut down!

Oh and seriously people? It is surprising to you that Money is Power!?

I was sort of enjoying this thread until I saw the posting about David.
What can we do about the banking system?? ...nothing without a lot of strife. But to believe the Politicians when they say that they are going to change the banking system is also heading towards La-la land territory.

Getting better again.. these things come in circles - I think we may see £1 = 1.30 in 2011. Just a guess.

If you were to add all of the raises in rate from the last year together and discount the falls, the rate would be back around 1.50€

As I have mentioned many times, once the rate starts to go up, the Bank of England jump in and talk it down again. Reasoning that the low exchange rate makes our exports better and therefore helps the economy.

Once again showing they look after the multi nationals and tough luck to us small pondlife at the bottom of the pool. Just shows they are willing to throw us with pensions and mortgages to the dogs in pursuit of keeping themselves afloat.

I remember it well, but I don't even want to think about converting things back into pesetas.....no doubt the cost of a loaf of bread would make me cry!

Oh darn I wrote a load of stuff about alternative energy/currency etc and then the pc froze and lost it all, but you could all look it up for yourselves. I would like to see the oil providers all crying one day as demand drops, instead of us crying as prices rise.

Re currency and oil prices - try watching the Zeitgeist films and make your own minds up - Im just on a small british pension and probably 'roadkill' anyhow in financial terms, but always try to be optomistic despite the storms which may be ahead - lets not get too downhearted as what we really value is not always what we think it is -(eg. health is most important over all concerns.) Cheer up folks:)

We are in the same boat, and like you I believe there are other values more important than the financial ones.
We live in a wonderful country and have a good quality of life here, if we also have good health then we certainly should count our blessings!
