Default Spanish Will

Over the xmas holiday we are going to Spain to complete a 'Will' with the help of our solicitor at the Notary office, they have quoted us €190 each is this about right and is there anything we should be aware of ?
Cheers!

We did ours 2 years ago and were charged 80 euros for the 2. Went in especially on a Saturday lunch time, told the abogado what we wanted, secretary typed it up, we checked them and showed him the mistakes, errors corrected and given our copies immediately. Wonderful service.

I understand that most places do charge more than we were but not sure of the going rate.

They do have to be notarised, did ours about 2 years ago and I think it was in the region of 150€ for both.

That sounds expensive if it is a simple will.

€200 for a couple sounds more realistic.

Yes they do have to be done by the Notary of the region we have been told.
Same guy that gave us the Habitation Licence if I recall.

IN Spain you can also make "testamento olográfico", a hand-written will that anybody can make, even in a simple piece of paper. Not the best thing... but still accepted. Problem is that the cost of proving that the hhandwritingis that of the testator can reach over 500€

As per the will with Notary... that is really the best option, but the prices you are mentioning seem to be quite expensive to me... my friend tells me that for the simplest ones you should expect 50-60€. The more complicated, the more expensive. I guess that the extra cost is due to translations???

We did mirror image wills which co-incidentally complied with Spanish law as well as being our wishes under English law and took advantage of the Spanish Usufruct direct with the bi-lingual Notary in Isla Cristina. Took about 4 hours during which we had a long coffee break. €75 for both.

We did ours a few months ago in our local town Notary. No solicitor required as they just need a few details (passport,, NIE, address etc) and simply complete a set format on their computer (as long as you have somebody that can understand Spanish or your notary speaks English you are ok). Collected Wills the following day, a simple matter of sitting in front of the Notary and reading through the wills - cost 37euro each.

I suspect you are being asked to pay 190euro each for your Solicitor to act as a translator rather than provide any legal service!
