Hi its a little dull but are spanish lightbulbs screw or bayonet fitting?
I intend to replace ours in our Spanish place for the low energy bulbs and I have some bayonet ones here in the uk that I thought I might bring down.
Theres not much point if spanish ones are screw

I bought 20 ES bulbs (screw) in Focus DIY at about 99p each.
'er indoors then said "oh you should have gone to Tesco, they're only 50p each there" !!! Grrrrr.
Shop around...........much cheaper in the UK than Spain.

I thought the screw fittings here in Spain are of two sizes E27 and E14....no?
Plus there are connections for spot lamps too. (MR16 and GU-10).

but their spanish fittings are almost certain to be screw fittings, so they wont be a lot of use.

I haven't seen one Spanish light fitting which takes a bayonet lamp.
Shop around in the UK (Tesco or similar) and buy a quantity of ES - E27 (Edison screw) low energy lamps. Some Spanish light fittings take a lamp with a smaller Edison screw size. This will be ES - E14.
But most are the E27 size.
Savings are definately to be made.

Our local "discount" place, Trego Mills, are selling low energy bulbs for 19p each and they even have a buy one get one free offer on top of that!

We were there last week and one guy bought a trolley load of them................ I really wanted to tell him that they last for years so maybe over 100 bulbs might not be a sensible money saving tip!

That is exactly what I wrote; plus I said there are other fittings for spot lamps...

But why does any one want to stay with something very British when you can purchase everything here in Spain so much easier than having to wait to return to GB is beyond me. But hey each to their own I suppose.

Can you buy any of those light bulbs cheaply in Spain or as cheap as those posters said they can get in UK? If so, what's the name of the shops in Spain?

I do not intend on getting into a quarrel about this, but how can you purchase a lamp in the U.K. cheaper when you include all the travel cost and time (excess luggage on Ryanair etc)
Bayonet fittings are just not available here.
Everything thing is cheaper in GB so why does everyone live in Spain?

As has been said the common bulb fitting in Spain is Edison screw and bayonet lamps do not exist... unless brought in by a British person, but... if you need a 'standard' bayonet fitting bulb then Iceland do them at "don't quote me" around about 2.50 for 4 if I remember correctly! if you have an Iceland store near you that is.

If you are near Gib then you can get 'low energy' bayonet bulbs there, around £2.69 in Morrison's for the cheaper ones of £4.69 for the dearer ones although if you shop around the town you will get them as cheap as £2

Nosherlot is moving to Galicia and up here there are no expat shops here, thankfully. This part of Spain is quite different to what you are referring too. But I am most sure that someone who lives in the south will like to hear the information you have posted.
