'er indoors then said "oh you should have gone to Tesco, they're only 50p each there" !!! Grrrrr. Shop around...........much cheaper in the UK than Spain. Good luck !! |
Re: Spanish Lightbulbs
Get some bayonet fittings from the U.K , cheaper than buying Spanish energy savers.

Re: Spanish Lightbulbs
I thought the screw fittings here in Spain are of two sizes E27 and E14....no?
Plus there are connections for spot lamps too. (MR16 and GU-10). |

I haven't seen one Spanish light fitting which takes a bayonet lamp. Shop around in the UK (Tesco or similar) and buy a quantity of ES - E27 (Edison screw) low energy lamps. Some Spanish light fittings take a lamp with a smaller Edison screw size. This will be ES - E14. But most are the E27 size. Savings are definately to be made. |

Savings are definately to be made. We were there last week and one guy bought a trolley load of them................ I really wanted to tell him that they last for years so maybe over 100 bulbs might not be a sensible money saving tip! |

But why does any one want to stay with something very British when you can purchase everything here in Spain so much easier than having to wait to return to GB is beyond me. But hey each to their own I suppose.:huh::huh: |

Re: Spanish Lightbulbs
I do not intend on getting into a quarrel about this, but how can you purchase a lamp in the U.K. cheaper when you include all the travel cost and time (excess luggage on Ryanair etc)
Bayonet fittings are just not available here. Everything thing is cheaper in GB so why does everyone live in Spain? |

Theres not much point if spanish ones are screw thanks Nicky If you are near Gib then you can get 'low energy' bayonet bulbs there, around £2.69 in Morrison's for the cheaper ones of £4.69 for the dearer ones although if you shop around the town you will get them as cheap as £2 HTH :) |

Nosherlot is moving to Galicia and up here there are no expat shops here, thankfully. This part of Spain is quite different to what you are referring too. But I am most sure that someone who lives in the south will like to hear the information you have posted. |

BTW, the reason I know is because I have to buy about 50 of them every so often for some bayonet light fittings that come from the UK at times... just in case you think I'm one of those types that haunt the UK stores. :D wouldn't want you to think that of me! 'looking up into CSE's eyes'. |
Re: Spanish Lightbulbs
In answer to all
Yes I am moving to Galicia, the only reason I asked was that I work in Energy Management and have access to free bayonet eco lightbulbs. I hate the idea of throwing away or wasting things when I am on a tight budget so I wondered if they would be useful. If I have to buy them I will shop in Spain. Many thanks for the responses, we are driving down in our car for the first time in August so we are packing the car with the most useful goods (hence my question). I shall stick to mostly kitchenalia and cheap bedding in the short term. The lorry will follow when we sell our UK house and make the final move (not holding my breath!!!!) |
Re: Spanish Lightbulbs
We found white goods and duvets were among the most expensive items in Spain. Don't know if that helps.

Illuminating Information regarding Spanish Lightbulbs
Places like "Leroy Merlin", Carrefour and Eroski frequently have 'bulk purchase' offers on low wattage long-life bulbs.
A blister-pack will often have five bulbs at a reasonable price. All are screw-threads. |

But hey each to their own I suppose.:huh::huh: I bought a bunch across from the UK which cost me 99p each. Just picked the screw fitting ones in homebase and they were fine here both the lareg and small screws as we have a mixture. We also have some bayonet fittings as our fans and living room lights were brought over with us so have some spares for them aswell. Warning I did buy a couple of ebergy saving bulbs from a chinese shop that were supposedly equivalent to 150 watt. These were for outside use hence needed to be bright. Rhet were rubbish and gave out less light than a 60 watt bulb. |
Re: Spanish Lightbulbs
I wouldn't say the efficient bulbs were that expensive where we are.
Three or 4 years ago, the only efficient ones available in the UK that I could find were hellishly expensive, with the Spanish ones a fraction of the price. |
