I think it's about time to remove ourselves from the grid. I think we'll invest in a combination of things; generator, solar, wind. And LOTS of batteries.

5. The government had to cut the subsidies because it had too much uneconomic solar power generation and was/is costing the Government a fortune. Especially in the Crisis.

6. They are now trying to discourage new installations by making it uneconomic to run if you can't store the power in a battery, and moving people back towards the much cheaper grid power (my interpretation). Without Government subsidies it's going to take you 25 years to get your solar investment back.

7. Far from being in bed with the government, the producers are up in arms because they have been saddled with a hell of a lot of uneconomic kit.

:) The Chinese while not being a democracy are making democratic PV systems. They are making modular units than can be plugged in the grid or used in conjunction with off grid systems. This will cheap panels and innovative charge controllers puts the Chinese at the fore front as the champion of people who want to live sustainable lifestyles. Both of which are a very effective LIE propagated by the people who's agenda is to build nuclear power plants or who own fracking plants and Biofuel plants etc. I always use the expression. "Cherchez la femme"...in this case the 'femme' being money. Where is the money...who stands to gain? If it's the people....money won't be invested and lies will be told. And in my experience even very intelligent people have failed to discern these lies. The only reason any technology is expensive is when it's kept from being mainstream. I personally intend to be a solar bandit if at all possible :D We've already started building a hot water panel to augment my bathwater. (I have a very big bath but a very empty wallet! :D)
